Daintree Rainforest Art

Don’t call it a dream, call it a plan! Let’s work together to take steps and save our Rainforests!

After reading the books ‘Where the forest meets the sea’ by Jeannie Baker and ‘If I ran the rainforest’ by Dr Seuss, year 2 were really inspired to teach people about the importance of the rainforest. In this unit of work they aspired to teach the public about the rainforest and how it is used by plants, animals and humans alike.

Throughout the unit they researched what features each level of the rainforest has and who inhabits the level. They then used recycled materials and clay to recreate the flora and fauna of the unspoiled Daintree rainforest.

Something to think about:

The earth is 4.6 billion years old. Let’s scale that to 46 years. We have been here for 4 hours. Our industrial revolution began 1 minute ago. In that time, we have destroyed more than 50% of the world’s forests.
