Enrichment

Students are encouraged to participate in enrichment programs such as ICAS for English, Public Speaking and Debating, as well as ICAS for Mathematics and Maths Olympiad.

Enrichment programs are also offered in the Creative Arts such as Choir, Orchestra, Sport and Art.

Creative Arts

Within Creative Arts, at Marie Bashir Public School,  we provide students with opportunities to nurture their ability in the Creative Arts of: Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts.

Students have the opportunity to participate in Dance extra curricula activities such as Junior Groovers and Dance Club.

Our music and art specialist teachers deliver programs that are accessible to all students and provide a variety of opportunities for students to showcase their talents in groups such as String Ensemble, Recorder Ensemble and Orchestra.

Students also have the opportunity to perform at events such as Festival of Instrumental Music and Choir spectaculars.

Our resident artist, Mr Matthew provides an enrichment program for students to further develop their talents in Visual Arts.

Sport

Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports activities in class, at a stage level and also, at a competitive level.

The school participates in WSPSSA on Friday afternoons. This provides students an opportunity to play a variety of sporting games such as soccer, netball, T-ball and softball against other schools.

Student voice

At Marie Bashir Public School, we value student voice and have developed programs that allow for students to express their opinions through Student Representative Council (SRC), Leadership programs, Public Speaking and Debating.

These skills are further developed in Stage 2 and 3 on a Friday afternoon during student selected electives.

Differentiation

Learning and support is offered to all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 whereby an extra support teacher team teaches with the classroom teacher during English and Maths groups throughout the week.
